Barielle Me Couture Collection - Fall 2014

Thursday, October 16, 2014

Good afternoon!

Today I have swatches of the Fall 2014 Barielle collection called Me Couture. It contains five cremes and one near creme, which is to say it contains very fine shimmer but applies like a creme. The shades are what I call a classic fall palette, rich yet deep.

On my outer fingers I have two coats of Vintage Gown (a rust colored silk with a hint of hot pink shimmer) and on the inner fingers I have Berry Posh (fuchsia creme), also two coats.

On the outer fingers I have two coats of Taupe Notch (a purple tinged greige) and on the inner fingers, two coats of Boho Chic (hunter green creme).

The last two shades are Soho At Night, of which I applied two coats on the outer fingers (dull grape creme) and two coats of an inky indigo creme called Moda Bleu. It looked opaque in person, but as you can see on camera Moda Bleu might have needed just one more coat.

The formulas were all around really great. Smooth, glossy and most were really opaque in just two coats. The purple-y shades of the bunch (Moda Bleu and Soho At Night) were a touch... watery, almost? Just slightly different from your typical creme application.

Hands down my favorite shades are Moda Bleu and Boho Chic, these are colors I can't get enough of lately. Each shade retails for $8 directly from the Barielle website. I'd recommend signing up for the newsletter though, as they frequently have great promotions.

Which of these six is your favorite color out of this collection?

Barielle Elle's Spell Layered

Monday, May 14, 2012

Last night, I was organizing my polishes when I came across my only Barielle polish- Elle's Spell. I haven't used it in so long, I decided to give it a go. The last time I used it was... oh gosh, well over a year ago. Probably when it came out, actually.

I used Love & Beauty Purple (oh gee, what a creative name) as a base which is a bright purple with some neon pigment in it, as it dries rather matte. Topped off with Elle's Spell, the total effect was stunning. The red violet really plays up the rainbow range of flakies. I think this rekindled my love for flaked polishes- something that was killed earlier this year due to so many of them becoming available.

Now that I noticed that I only have one Barielle polish, I feel like this needs to be remedied! I'm thinking of ordering a few- Falling Star and Buddha-ful look gorgeous.

Have a great night!

Fantastic Flakie: Barielle Elle's Spell

Tuesday, December 7, 2010
indoors, no flash, lightbox. 4 coats.
I never really paid attention to Barielle before this new winter collection. When someone told me that one of the polishes in it had flakies, I couldn't wait to get my painted phalanges on Elle's Spell.
The first time I went to Ulta to pick it up, I forgot my wallet and had to leave without it (and pretty furious at myself). The next day, I went back and bought it- good thing too! The display had been full the first day, but when I went back there was only two bottles left.
Elle's Spell is a gorgeous crimson jelly with flakies that flash from yellow-green to orange. I feel like the beauty of this polish will only be appreciated by the wearer, because only when is it on your fingers and you move them around in the light can you see the full range of flashing flake color change.
This polish can be worn however you like. Three coats will give more of a jelly transparent look, while I personally prefer 4 coats because the richness of the red comes through (and more flakies!).
This pictures (no flash, lightbox) shows off the color change in the flakies
This polish cost $6 at Ulta. It's listed on the Barielle site for $8, and since I have no idea where else to buy Barielle products I suggest you head to Ulta if you plan on picking this one up. Truly a beautiful color that's wonderful for the holidays. In fact, I fully intend on wearing this color Christmas morning because it just puts me in such a festive mood.
Since I just purchased this today, I can't really comment on the wear. But the application was pretty good, with a decent brush. The only thing I noticed was a tendency to build up heavily at the tips, but that's probably due to its jelly nature.

What do you think of this Barielle polish? Have you tried any other Barielle products?
