Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Lipstick in Queen

Monday, January 22, 2018

I was recently sent two Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Lipsticks from Influencer, complimentary. I was pretty excited as matte is without a doubt my favorite finish for lipsticks, despite how dry my lips are. The two colors that I ended up with were Queen and Rampage.
Fairly cool shades, I wouldn't have selected these two for myself. I'm much more drawn to the reds in this collection.

The lipsticks come in twist up plastic encased pencil format.

I'm nitpicking slightly, but I don't like the typeface that LM chose to write "EXTREME" on the packaging. It's a constant reminder that there's a budget friendly alternative to these lipsticks that look pretty similar (cough, Colourpop Lippie Stix, cough cough).

Really great opacity can be achieved in just a few light swipes.

Rampage is not my kind of pink. It didn't look very good in my lip wrinkles, as it is slightly chalkier than Queen. The shade was sadly horrific against my coloring, I didn't want to take pictures of it on my face. Just Queen it is!

The color payoff is quite good, spectacular in the case of Queen. It's so bold! The lipstick sets to a finish that is quite matte (but not shriveling) and hugs the lips without transferring off. For a matte, it's reasonably comfortable and quite long wearing. This is the most comfortable non-liquid matte that I've worn in recent years.

There's 24 shades, I'm really drawn to the red shades Power and Control (what does this say about me?).  Definitely some products that I'll have in my cart come Sephora sale time.

Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Lipsticks are $28 each and available from Sephora and department stores that carry Laura Mercier.

Have you tried the new LM Velour Extreme formula?
