So last month I made my way into the only Inglot location anywhere near me, located in the Macy's in Union Square, San Francisco. I was overwhelmed by my choices. I knew I was going to walk away with six shadows but my hours spent Googling swatches did not nearly prepare me. There where just SO many shadows to pick from.
I'm not sure how I was able to walk away with just six shadows. I kinda wanted the whole store.
Luckily a very kind (and patient) sales associate as well as my sister helped me narrow my choices. I really liked that Inglot had many colors that not often found in makeup (well by major brands I mean). I had read this already, but Inglot uses a system where their shadows come in five different finishes; AMC, Matte, D.S. Shine and Pearl.
Read this guide for a rundown of the definitions. The amount of product in each pan varies by formula as some are denser than others. These are the Freedom System square shadows, I opted to not get a palette because I heard that they are notoriously hard to remove pans from and rearrange.
I picked these six:
Matte 388, a matte blurple. It's not dark enough to be indigo, not light enough to be periwinkle. Blurple.
Matte 376. I know it appears to be just be matte sooty grey, but it actually also has a purple cast to it, in real life.
Matte 318. White. Boring it may seem, but I was on a quest for a really pigmented matte white.
D.S. 487. A pinky mauve matte base with micro sparkle.
Matte 333. A dark forest matte green. I absolutely NEEDED something like this in my makeup stash.
AMC 11. An antique coopery gold shimmer with micro sparkle. This color also has a bit of a dark shift/cast to it. If you're familiar with the dimension that Fyrinnae Polar Bear has, it's sort of like that.
Swatched over bare skin. Matte 318, AMC 11, D.S. 487, Matte 388 (note that it looks a lot more blue here than in person), Matte 333, Matte 376.

All of the shades I picked were really pigmented. The matte shadows were a little on the dry and hard side but were by no means powdery. They blended the best not only eye primer, but a creamy base like NYX Jumbo Pencils. I used NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk to really grab the shadow and provide maximum impact. The shimmery AMC 11 went on without any problems.
Here are just two looks that feature a few of the shadows.
My EOTD from yesterday. Matte 318 on the brow bone, Matte 388 on the lid and Matte 376 in the crease and lower lash line. Also used Rimmel Scandaleyes Silver liner.
An older EOTD where Matte 333 is used in the crease, Matte 318 is on the brow again. Also used Catrice Planet Tokyo and NARS X Rated.
Both of these eye looks use: NARS Smude Proof Eye Primer, NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk, La Femme Eye Sealer, Calvin Klein Night Dusk for liner and false lashes.
The good thing is that now Inglot is sold on Beautylish! This is fantastic because the Inglot USA website is pretty much terrible. There are a lot of swatches available on Spektra and MakeupAlley to help you decide what you want. Currently, Inglot Freedom System shadows are $6.
