Magenta/Blue Duochrome Eyes

Monday, September 29, 2014
 Good afternoon!

I've really been loving unusual duochrome looks lately. I mean, brown with a green/blue flash is rather commonplace (think about how many brands have such a shaodw; MAC, Too Faced, Kat von D, Urban Decay, etc) but I've seen some beautiful looks with magenta/blue and orange/golden green.

While rummaging through my makeup (currently half is still living on the main floor) I was thrilled to discover that I already owned such a color! Enter Femme Fatale Cosmetics Dispersion. A matte sort of brick red color with icy blue interference.

DIFFERENT dimension Fall Heavy Metals and Spooky Spooky Collections

Friday, September 26, 2014

Good afternoon!

In a few hours, the latest collections from DIFFERENT dimension will be available and I'm really excited because you know me and fall collections. Missi knocked it out of the park with last year's fall and Halloween shades I think that this year is no different!

First, the Heavy Metals Collection. Steampunk inspired, this collection features six holographic shades that are almost chrome like in appearance as well as two glitter toppers that look like they are loaded with precious metals.

FOTD with Impulse Cosmetics Run Away Lipstick

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

 Good morning!

This was my FOTD yesterday, but I ended up being so tired that I fell asleep at 6PM and didn't get around to posting it.

I decided to go with a bright lipstick with that sort of gradient outline so I pulled out Impulse Cosmetics Run Away Lipstick. If you recall, I swatched it here

Tatcha Ritual Discovery Kit: Phenomenal For Your Skin

Monday, September 22, 2014

I first read about Tatcha products on Messy Wands a long time ago and Xiao's favorable review kept the brand on my mind ever since. So I must say, I was exceptionally eager to try out the Ritual Discovery Kit for Dry Skin which supplies you with all four steps of the Tatcha Ritual; Pure, Polished, Radiant & Ageless. At first I was quite cautious (as trying four new products all at once seemed like I was just asking for trouble) but I couldn't be more thrilled with the results.

Cirque Kontiki Collection

Friday, September 19, 2014

Good afternoon!

Three posts in three consecutive days? Ladies and gents, I do declare that I feel like I have my blogging mojo back!

Today I'm showcasing a limited edition trio of polishes from one of my favorite brands, Cirque Colors. I always really enjoy Cirque's collections because they are well thought out and always cohesive. The Kontiki Collection features three shades that are loaded with color shifting shimmer and micro glitter.

Dear Dahlia. A bright vivid magenta pink loaded with small micro glitter and shimmer that shifts from predominately green but also looks gold and blue.

Midsummer Night. A deep ultramarine blue verging on indigo with micro glitter and beautiful colorshifting shimmer that looks red/gold/green.

Thicker Than Water. A teal color loaded with color shifting pigment and a touch of micro glitter that looks gold/copper/green.

I used three coats of each color. I would describe the finish as not entirely jelly nor is it wholly creme either; it skirts the boundary in between. They are just translucent enough to really show off the color shifting shimmer but without prominent nail lines. They applied nicely and leveled well too.

Usually when describing a collection, I can single out a clear favorite color. With the Cirque Kontiki Collection, this is not the case. Each vibrant color is paired so well with contrasting shimmer that I honestly can't decide which one I like the best.

The Kontiki Collection is limited edition, so be sure to pick it up soon if they catch your eye! Each shade is $13 and can be purchased here.

If you had to pick a favorite, which one is it? Or are you like me, loving all three?

Products featured were press samples. For additional information, please refer to my Disclosure Policy.

How I Wash My Brushes - An Overly Detailed Account

Thursday, September 11, 2014
 Hi friends!

Before I talk about brush care today, I thought I'd just have a bit of a heart-to-heart with you guys. My heart hasn't been in blogging recently, for the first time in years I have writer's block (though calling my blogging "writing" is a bit of a stretch as it's mostly me just throwing jumbled up thoughts on products at you, dear reader) and the whole not having great internet thing wasn't conducive to active blogging. Truth is, I've also been pretty preoccupied with fertility.

Morgan and I have been trying for a while now, and I've known pretty much since I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago (got a great look at my ovaries, ack) that we wouldn't likely conceive without medical assistance of some sort. Now that we've settled down in our first house, I feel almost an urgency to fill up all these quiet, empty bedrooms (don't worry, polish and makeup still get their own room) so expanding our family has been our top priority.

Perfume Diary: NEST Midnight Fleur Eau de Parfum

Friday, September 5, 2014
 Good afternoon!

Sephora currently has NEST Fragrances Midnight Fleur Eau de Parfum as a deluxe sample, and I added it to an order a few weeks back. I've sniffed it before in store and didn't care for it, but somehow between then and now I must have decided that it was worth revisiting. Besides, look at that packaging!

NOTD: Monet's Lilies

Monday, September 1, 2014
 Good evening!

I hope you had a safe and fun Labor Day weekend! Today I want to show you some nail art that I did before we left for our trip to see my in-laws. Having never been the flower loving type, you don't often see floral manicures on this blog. For some reason or other, I decided to do blurry, dreamy, Monet painting-esque strokes. Think it turned out pretty well!

I used so many polishes, I just don't think it'd be very helpful to list them all, because I mixed them just like you would with paint. Just so you get the gist of it - I used all the American Apparel blue polishes, black and white are from Cirque, top coat is also Cirque, greens are from Nature Republic (Korean brand), pink and yellow are also American Apparel. Throw in a few miscellaneous China Glaze colors too.

Have a great night!
