Retro FOTD featuring Firmoo Glasses

Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Good afternoon!

Today I've created a look to go hand in hand with my new Firmoo glasses. I've been a devout contacts wearer for close to two decades but you can bet that I always have a pair of trusty glasses nearby, just in case. I was able to pick out this fantastic pair of large rimmed retro-looking glasses and decided that it deserved red lipstick to go along with it.

Since my vision is pretty bad, I have to admit that I can struggle with makeup application. It's really hard for me to put on eyeliner evenly on both eyes, I usually am right up against the mirror (yeah, my vision is THAT bad).

Some tips that I've learned over the years:

  • If you're nearsighted, forget leaning over a counter to get close to a mirror for detailed makeup looks. You're much better off sitting down in front of a tabble top mirror, there's many out there that are magnified that can help. Table tops also gives you a surface to support your elbow, which can improve your precision (this applies even if you don't wear glasses!).
  • Remember to clean your glasses frequently, especially around the nose pieces if you have oily skin. (Firmoo glasses come with a case and cloth that works well for daily wiping).
  • Skip silicone laden primers on the area of your nose where the nose piece rests. It pretty much serves as a lubricant and encourages your glasses to slide around.
  • I prefer wearing a powder foundation on my nose because I tend to get less pilling than with cream or liquid formulations.

The pair that I have on is now discontinued but this pair is almost identical.
I like the sturdy plastic frames and that old fashioned librarian look. How awesome would these glasses be with victory rolls or fingerwaves?

I used:

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in Granite
Face: MUFE Pro Finish Foundation, YSL Blush Variation in #12, Graftobian Hi Def Glamour Creme (as concealer)
Lips: BITE Beauty Pomegranate

I was very surprised to find out about Firmoo's free glasses offer. Than I thought about it - I also received my pair free to review and I like my glasses so much that I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair. They're practical, low cost, but I love they way they look. Considering a dog chewed up my last $350 pair, I'd much rather order glasses from Firmoo since they won't break the bank.

Do you wear glasses at all? Have any makeup tips for glasses wearers?
