Stamped: Inspired by Something Vintage

Sunday, May 13, 2012
So if you follow me on Twitter, you might have seen this Instagram picture of a neat thing that I picked up.  My city holds this annual garage sale that hundreds of households participate in every year. I happened to be browsing around with my friend Chelsea, looking for hard to find polishes (hey, Kris from My Lucid Bubble found bottles of Clarins 230, a girl can dream) when I spotted THIS.

What is this, might you ask?

A fully functioning portable hair dryer from the 1960s, that's what! Even if it hadn't worked, I'm pretty sure that I would have forked over the $2 (that's right- a mere two dollars) for this interesting piece of hair history. I'd show you the inside, but it's still dusty because I didn't clean it out yet. If you're curious, google "Oster Vintage Salon Dryer".

Today's mani is based off of that pastel mint color.

I used Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet as the base. Using plate BM 224 from my Bundle Monster set, I stamped Sally Hansen Silver Sweep and Konad Special White all over in a random fashion. For some reason, I had a rather hard time stamping with this particular design, as though it was not etched deep enough.

Have a great night, thanks for checking out this manicure.

Products featured, including that raggedy hair dryer, were purchased by me, for my own use. For additional information, please refer to my Disclosure Policy.

FOTD: Clara Bow (Kinda) and Ornate KOTD

Wednesday, August 18, 2010
I tried to thin out my brows and make them straight and unnaturally uniform like Clara's but that didn't work out too well. I also ended up adding a dab of blush, because without it- I looked rather sickly!
Can't do the sultry expression,
either.

I do love vampy lips though!
Face: MUFE HD, Monistat Gel, e.l.f. HD powder
Brows: NYX Brow Powder in Taupe/Ash
Lips: NYX Hebe and Rimmel Hype
Eyes: UDPP, La Femme Taupe shadow and LORAC Beige. Urban Decay 24/7 Zero liner, MAC Chromagraphic, falsies

And here's my KOTD! That's Finger Paints' Contrast in Crimson (3x) and China Glaze GR8 stamped with Konad plate #M63. I really love the holographic swirling. Plush the red is so pretty, very rich with a hint of shimmer.

FOTD: Over the Top Poolside Glamour

Tuesday, July 20, 2010
Bathroom lighting, no flash.
I went and sat under the umbrella by the pool for a bit in a ridiculous, over the top red lips with falsies get up. I have no idea why, but I had a fun time envisioning myself as a poolside pin up gal (shush, I have a very powerful imagination).

Face: Monistat Anti Chafing Gel, L'oreal Magic Perfecting Base, MUFE HD, NARS Concealer Ginger/Custard, MAC Chromagraphic NC15/NW20, MAC Marine Life, YSL Blush Variation #12
Eyes: UDPP
Lips Rimmel Red Hot lipstick, NYX Crystal Red Gloss (I love this gloss so much, ever since I bought a tube from the $1 sale, highly recommend it!)

Super red from the heat!

Products mentioned were purchased by me, with the exception of the blush which was gifted.

FOTD-Twiggy inspired look

Wednesday, January 27, 2010
I'm kind of on a vintage kick, let's see how long it lasts.

I am neither pale nor do I have flawless skin like Twiggy, but I decided to go for hugely exaggerated  mod falsies today. Instead of purely nude lips, I added an element of baby pink.
Face: Hard Candy blush in Pin Up, NARS Custard concealer, Revlon PhotoReady 004 Nude
Lips: NYX lip pencil in Rose, Beauty Rush clear lipgloss, touch of concealer
Eyes: MAC Blanktype, Fluidline Blacktrack. Diorshow Mascara
Lashes: Top, e.l.f. Hollywood Lashes, Lower, NYX Individual lower lashes

FOTD- Bettie Page Inspired

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

What up, 50s pinup.
Bettie Page is an idol of mine. She was so unbelievably sexy- but she had this classy element to her that modern day counterparts can't touch. Some of her pictures are rather raunchy, yet she looks impeccable.
So here's my modern day salute to her. I can't quite get the bangs, mine are much too long to get that meticulously perfect edge.
Lips: NYX Eros, Sonia Kashuk Lip Liner in China Red
Eyes: Lancome Honeymoon and MAC's Cork (tiny bit in the crease), L'oreal Double Extend Waterproof and Diorshow Mascara
Face: NARS concealer in Custard, Revlon PhotoReady in 004 Nude
