[CLIO] Virgin Kiss Sillkuid Lip in Cheshire
Wednesday, August 24, 2016
CLIO was one of the new Silkuid Lips, the new matte additions to the Virgin Kiss line of lip products. I ordered completely blind, as there were very few swatches of this product at all. What I had hoped for was a liquid MLBB lipstick that was matte and long lasting.
The pros come to mind very easily; love the packaging, the formula, and the pigmentation. I like how there's a frosted matte color chamber so that it's easy to tell which color you're grabbing without checking the label or opening the cap. The doefoot wand applicator makes it easy to apply the non scented, highly pigmented lipstick which is almost mousse-like in texture. You can definitely get full opaque lip coverage with just one pass.
What bums me out is the color. Take a look at the swatch chart from CLIO.
Neat, Cheshire, the color I had my eye on is even denoted as the MLBB shade!
Not quite. In person, Cheshire is much more intense and bright than I had hoped for.
Left; blended. Right; full swipe of color.
It's a bold strawberry with a little bit of marsala. It's not a bad color by any means, just not quite the My Lips But Better shade for which I was searching.
[CLIO] Virgin Kiss Silkuid Lip in Cheshire, lightly blended with finger tips onto lips prepped with balm. For that almost gradient lip look.
Silkuid Lip feels pretty comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, mostly because it doesn't dry to a completely non transferable finish the way say, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks do. It sets to a non sticky sort of finish that reminds me of oil paint drying on a canvas. Again, not bad but not quite what I had in mind. Removes really easily with oil cleanser, not much staining.
[CLIO] Virgin Kiss Silkuid Lip shades are $22 each through the [CLIO] US online website. I ordered mine for about $10 and change from Korea Depart. I noticed that Urban Outfitters has a couple of [CLIO] products online, maybe they'll carry more K-beauty in the future.
I'm still searching for that perfect matte MLBB liquid lipstick, so if you have any that you're loving right now - let me know!
Have you been lead astray by misleading online swatches lately?
