Pat McGrath Labs Lip Fetish

Monday, July 27, 2020

Hey, I'm not certain what direction this blog is going to go from here on out. I like beauty, but I don't want to forget BIPOC owned brands and small businesses, so moving forward I think I want to try to focus on these companies.

One of my favorite high end brands is Pat McGrath Labs. I was very interested in trying Mother's Lip Fetish Lip Balm and had the chance a few months ago when Sephora had a Gimme Some Balm Favorites kit and I had a code to use. It contained a full sized Lip Fetish, and the whole set was the same price as one (less in my case, discounted). Then there was some more sales on the PML website and I was able to pick up Lip Fetish in Noir and the mini trio for 40 and 50 percent off. The sale is still ongoing.

These balms are pretty straight forward: moisturizing but not too slick. Slightly waxier than some of the balms I've used recently that leaned oily/slick feeling (Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Lipair$10) or sticky like Manyo Factory Lip Serum, $14. The packaging is trademark Pat McGrath - pretty hefty and luxe with the trademark large pair of lips. The minis are in lighter weight fully plastic tubes.

There's a very very very light vanilla scent, and it fades pretty quickly for me. I like that it leaves my lips feeling soft and when blotted, it works well under matte lipsticks - not a super high sheen.

Left to right; Blow Up, Flesh 3, Original Clear, Noir

The Noir version isn't as dark as one might think, it's a barely there slight darkening sheen. The colored ones are nice, Pat McGrath makes some of the nicest lip colors in my book and these are no exception. There's not too much more to say, just that I really like balms and the $19 sale price is acceptable to me. Can't say I'd go for them full priced although I also didn't think I'd get a Tom Ford tinted balm, so I guess I'm wildly unpredictable when it comes to pricier balms.

Full priced, the Lip Fetish shades are $38, but they are currently $19, though Noir is sold out. The mini trio is on sale $13 if you want to try out the original clear and two tinted shades.
