Pictorial: Mauve Look with Femme Fatale Cosmetics

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Good afternoon!

Yesterday afternoon, I was fooling around some of my new Femme Fatale Cosmetics shades when I created a look that I really liked. Even though I only used two eyeshadow shades, I felt like they worked very well together to show off a whole range of hues in the pinky-mauve-purple family.

I ordered five minis altogether (left to right); Night in Werewolf Woods, Wizards Only[,] Fools, Cosmic Owl, Bat Wing Hall, The Girl Who Cried Monster and (sample) Deepmoss. For this look, I used only Wizards Only, Fools and Bat Wing Hall.

Started out with filled in brows and primed lids. I've been using a new primer, Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer since Sephora stopped carrying LORAC.

Take a fluffy brush and lightly swirl Wizards Only, Fools into the outer half of the lid and the outer V. Blend and swirl this color into surrounding skin.

Using a small flat brush, pat Bat Wing Hall all over the inner 2/3 of the lid. It has a matte base that can overwhelm the shimmer within sometimes.

Which is why I then use a finger to lightly dab a sticky base product all over (Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy) and then pat more Bat Wing Hall. This will bring out the golden iridescence.

Now the golden shimmer really pops against the dusky purple corner and the matte pink base of Bat Wing Hall. Using a pencil brush, sweep more Wizards Only, Fools under the lower lashes and also above the crease, carving out the illusion of a deeper crease.

Complete the look with dark eyeliner tightlined between lashes, nude eyeliner on the waterline and false lashes.

I'm pretty pleased to have discovered another combination of shadows that looks like you spent a lot of time coordinating the look, but in fact, happens to be really rather quick and easy!

Side note: Femme Fatale Cosmetics no longer sells the little sample baggies of shadows. However, shipping for shadows has been lowered quite a bit, which I feel is a great move. I'm more inclined to use indie shadows in mini screw pots compared to to messy bags. However, all of my shadows came with the shifter sticker loose, so there was shadow errrrrywhere when I opened them up. So there's that.
