Mask Madness, Vol. X: Manyo Factory Active Refresh Herb Pack

Tuesday, January 2, 2018

I recently finished another mask and thought I'd blog about it before it before it faded from memory. I've lost track of how many Manyo Factory products I've tried at this point (actually I don't want that kind of accountability in my life) and on the whole, they've been really good! No sensitivities to speak of, and I've definitely found a few HGs in the galactomyces containing products.

Downside: this has a crazy short shelf life when opened. I'm serious, you should really try to use it up within a month. It'll start getting funky and moldy if you leave it in your medicine cabinet forgotten. It's the least shelf stable product I've tried in the last few years.

The mask is a creamy wet paste with plant lumps. There's some peppermint and wintergreen in this mask, not enough to make my skin angry, but enough to feel slightly cool. It's not a feeling I'm fond particularly fond of.
The ingredients are as follows:
Water, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Kernel Flour, Kaolin, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Camellia Japonica Flower Water, Centella Asiatica ExtractPropolis ExtractArtemisia Vulgaris Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Dimethyl Sulfone, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Bentonite, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Extract, Glycerin, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Leonurus Sibiricus Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Citrus AurantiumDulcis (Orange) Oil, Pinus Densiflora Leaf Powder, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Rhodiola Rosea Root Extract, Rosa Damascena Flower Extract, Taraxacum Officinale (Dandelion) Leaf Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Gaultheria procumbens (wintergreen) leaf extract, Albumen, mineral salt

I've highlighted some of the ingredients that I was interested in.  I was hoping for a mask that would have similar results to my Pure Heal's Centella Green Tea 65 Pack, which leaves me with calm skin when it's really red and irritated.

I ended up with a second jar of this mask (it was in a combo pack with the Active Refresh Herbal Peeling Gel, which I had wanted to try for a mere $13) but it's not something I would go out of my way to repurchase. Actually I'm probably going to give away the second jar to someone who may enjoy cooling sensations from their skincare.

Overall, it's 80ml of meh in a jar. You can order it from kbeauty stockists on eBay for around $20.
