Indie Holiday Trio Collaboration by Serum No. 5, Lacquer Lust and Polished by KPT

Sunday, December 1, 2013

Hi folks!

Hope my fellow Americans had a great Thanksgiving! Did you buy anything on Black Friday? We were visiting family and unfortunately my computer was on the fritz before we left so I had to wait until we came home for him to fix it. Anyways I have a bunch of posts ready today.

This is the fabulous trio that Polished by KPT, Serum No. 5 and Lacquer Lust have worked together on to bring you this holiday season. Each  indie maker has done what they do best; thermal, glow in the dark and fine linear holo respectively.
This is Naughty & Nice from Polished by KPT. It's a pink to cranberry thermal shade. When warm, it's a soft rosy pink and cold it is a deep cranberry shade. It's filled with gold and opalescent blue sparks. Two coats.

Lacquer Lust presents a medium green linear holo. This holographic shade is super fine and contains a ton of micro flakes that look red/gold depending on  your angle and lighting. It's really unique!

Lastly we have Serum No. 5's offering, Yule Light Up My Life. It's a glitter topcoat that glows in the dark. There are various shades of glitter, all beautifully seasonal. This is one coat over black. I couldn't quite capture the glow in the dark on photo, it's more subtle but definitely there. You might have to charge it with a light bulb to see the full effect.

This trio is available from each of the makers' shops, Lacquer Lust, Polished by KPT and Serum No. 5. It will be available internationally from Harlow and Co

Polished by KPT Fall Collection

Saturday, October 19, 2013

Hi folks!

Tomorrow at noon PST, Polished by KPT is having a restock so I wanted to share with you the fall collection. There are thermals, glitters, gold flakes and duochrome shimmer... this collection is packed with lovely things! There are nine shades so let's get started.
Blood As Thick As Gold. Two coats. A stunning unique thermal polish that transitions from nude when warm to a deep red that is also loaded with gold flakes. Simple to die for!

Harvest Moon. Two coats. A bright thermal with holo that transitions from a clear pinkish shade to an orangey coral. The holo is way more pronounced in daylight.

Amor. Three coats. A brighter coral jelly that glows in the dark! There are fun matte glitters inside.

Country Road. Two coats. A thermal that transitions from rich brown when cool to a tawny gold when warm. Loaded with shimmer.

La Catrina. Two coats. Transitions from a fern green when cool to a translucent light purpley taupe when warm with flecks throughout. This one reminds me of a succulent. Incredible!

Starry Night. Two coats. A Blue jelly filled with blue glitter, glass fleck, silver hex, moon and star glitter. So incredibly sparkly!

Nightcrawler. Two coats. Another stunning shade. This is a light smokey blue when warm and navy when cool. It's also filled with duochrome glass fleck that looks pink/blue.

Corrupted Soul. One coat over black creme. A glitter topper filled with all sorts of various glitter in a clear base.

Gloomy October. Two coats.  An off white crelly with somber glitter throughout.

All the shades were around two coats and I have to say, no one does thermals like Polished by KPT! Seriously, they are so incredibly unique. In a world with so many indie brands, it amazes me that not only did Katherine create nine polishes for a fall collection but it was nine completely different shades that are so unlike anything I've ever seen before.

Check the Polished by KPT store at noon on Oct. 19th PST for the restock! You'll want to hurry, these beauties sell out in a matter of minutes, no joke. You can use "MAKEUPWITHDRAWAL" for 15% off your order, you lucky royal reader you! Be sure to follow @polishedbykpt on Instagram for all the latest updates.

Eyes on Indie Event- San Jose, CA

Monday, September 23, 2013
Hi folks!

The weekend before last there was a really nifty event at Black Cat Collective in downtown San Jose. Katherine of Polished by KPT and Thoey of Ecomonster hosted a nail party that focused on indie polish makers in the area including Shirley Ann Lacquer, Illume Lacquer, Wicked Polish, PolishTBH, Mentality Polish and of course Polished by KPT!

There were free DIY activities like a manicure station and a hand scrub making station. There were also tasty cocktails
Polished by KPT's setup was French inspired, complete with macarons!

Illume Lacquer had so many different glitter toppers.

 My pal Christian representing PolishTBH!

A brand that was new to me, Shirley Ann Nail Lacquer.

These were all taken before the event started. So many people came! I was so surprised to see that there were so many nail polish lovers that were local. The building felt like it was packed the whole time, it was pretty hot in there.
Take a look at this fabulous gift basket that one lucky winner of the raffle received. Is that a basket loaded with loot or what?

Other vendors included Jewels by Daisy and Mac Ahh Run. Macarons? You bet your sweet bottom that I bought some!

My favorite were the green tea ones. Flavor wise I loved the salted caramel but the shells on that flavor were very airy.

It was a fantastic event, I met a lot of fun people! If you're in the Bay area, be sure to follow @eyesonindie on Instagram for future polish events.

Four Polished by KPT Glitters

Thursday, August 1, 2013
I'm starting to think that pretty things all come in sets of fours! Today I have four really pretty Polished by KPT shades to show you. The shades are Color Therapy, Fireflies, High Maintenance and Bachelorette Party.

Color Therapy. One coat over Essie Butler Please. This is SO gorgeous! A mix of bright green, hot pink and hot coral glitter as well as small opalescent glitter in a clear base. It looks gorgeous over a lot of colors.

Fireflies. Another glitter topper. There are SO many different kinda of holo glitter. Most are bar glitter, but super thin. Mostly silver holo, but also some gold and purple pieces as well. Shown here, one coat on top of Wet'n'Wild Black Creme and Love & Beauty Purple. It is so sparkly in the sun, my camera couldn't capture it. This one is limited edition.

High Maintenance. This one might be my favorite! A glitter topper with soft delicate pastel glitters and small blue translucent and opalescent pieces. I love how it looks over black, it really makes the small glitter pop. One coat.

Bachelorette Party. A sheer purple polish with many different kinds of purple and white glitter. There are satin lavender and white hexes in a sea of super sparkly specks. Again, so sparkly that it won't photograph properly. One coat over Zoya Julie.

All four of these shades are available at the Polished by KPT shop. Guess what! You can use "MAKEUPWITHDRAWAL" to take 15% off! Fantastic, right? Happy shopping! Be sure to follow @polishedbykpt on Instagram for all the latest updates on restocks and sneak peeks at newest collections.

More Polished by KPT Thermals!

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Hi folks!

I wanted to post this last night but unfortunately allergies have been kicking my butt all over the place. I've been spending a lot of my time in bed just riding it out. Anyways, I wanted to show you three more Polished by KPT thermal polishes.

These three are called Ophelia's L♥ve, Being in the Pink and Nostalgia.

Ophelia's L♥ve is a smokey lavender (warm) to blackened eggplant (cool) thermal with flecks that shift from goldish green to a bright amethyst. This is just two coats.

Oh Nostalgia. An absolute stunner. Like Ophelia's L♥ve, it's a smokey thermal but unlike OL it has finer, delicate shimmer. The shimmer has a duochrome-y effect, from a dark plum through a lighter almost pinkish shade and even at some extreme angles, green.  I took a lot of shots and didn't do it justice, but I think you can see the effect quite well on the bottle. Two coats.

Being in the Pink. I can't even express how wonderful this is. It's a bright, super hot pink (warm) to purple (cool) HOLO thermal. The holo effect is quite good and much stronger in real life than it is in my pictures. I adore this to bits and pieces, I can't even explain it. It's just so bright and poppin'. Two coats. The first picture is how it looks in really hot weather, the second picture is dipped in hot water, the third pic is in cool water and the last picture is cold water splashed on the tips of hot nails.

All three of these had a really nice formula, very smooth and glided on during application. I really like how the two darker shades looked with just two coats, I could really see the transitional gradient effect whenever I was in air conditioning or touched cool things (remember it's really quite warm where I am right now so I tend to see more of the warm effect). You could wear them over other shades or with three coats for a more opaque effect. BITP is just fantastic, it's delightful to wear and I had it on for three days before I realized that I really did have to take it off in order to swatch other shades.

Ophelia's L♥ve and Nostalgia are sold as the Unrequited Love set (LE) at $22 and Being in the Pink is $10. Check out the Polished by KPT store here. Be sure to follow on Facebook and Instagram (@polishedbykpt) for the latest updates and first look at new polishes.
