Day 5: BLUE nails

Friday, January 6, 2012

I'm a day behind, because I wasn't able to post this one when I wanted to, sorry! Don't worry, tomorrow I'll be posting two days at once.
Today's blue nails made me think of blue jeans, so I used a classic pair of Levi's as inspiration. I used OPI Russian Navy Suede, the finish matched blue jeans perfectly. I also used Zoya Posh as the red color for the label, Ulta Snow White as the white lettering and finally- a mixture of CND Effects in Copper Shimmer and Gold Shimmer for the threading detail.

I'm sorry I haven't really responded to comments, I'm a little behind because my boyfriend is in town! Tomorrow though, I promise I'll sort them all out.

Day 4: GREEN nails

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

I think I did a much better job on today's nails than yesterday's colossal fail. Morgan helped me pick out most of it. He chose the main base color, American Apparel Army Jacket yesterday when we were at the Mall of America and decided he like the plate BM 203 the best, with white Konad Special polish. I decided on making it a slanted gradient by sponging Zoya Shawn and Golden Rose Holographic #117 on opposing corners.

I like the look of this one. It reminds me of plumbing.... and mold, now that I made that connection.

Have a great night!

Day 3: YELLOW nails

Tuesday, January 3, 2012
So it turns out, yellow nail polish is my kryptonite.
I really wanted to do a whole month of unique designs, but when it came to yellow... I was left scratching my head. I just didn't know what to do with it. To make matters worse, I don't really own many yellows.
What I did here was use Color Club Almost Famous with Love & Beauty Yellow on top.

*hangs my head* I'm ashamed.

I'll do better for the rest of this challenge, I swear.

Day 2: ORANGE nails

Monday, January 2, 2012
Good morning!

Today's orange nails remind me of orange cream soda, which I haven't had in forever. I used Fantasy Makers (Wet'n'Wild) Creepy Pumpkin then just hand painted China Glaze White Cap diagonally.
Mmm, it looks like when you open a bottle of orange cream soda and it foams out a little. Only you know, sparkly and golden iridescent.

What I would give for a bottle of Stewart's Orange 'n' Cream soda right now! Maybe that's what I'll drink when I have my Once-A-Month/Special-Holiday soda (I can't have sugar on a regular basis).

Do you have the day off today? Are you planning on doing anything fun?

Day 1: RED nails

Sunday, January 1, 2012
Happy New Year to you all!
I mentioned a few days ago that I was doing the month long nail challenge, so here goes.
I used OPI MonSooner Than Later which is one of my all time favorite reds. It's that red-orange shade that everyone was sportin' as their red lipstick shade of choice in the 80s.

I then used China Glaze GR8 and Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Diamond to add accents. I haven't done accents in a while, so they're not super fabulous. My friend Vina in cosmetology school did the best little flared accents, this makes me miss her.

I sincerely hope that all of you have a fantastic 2012, enjoy good health, happiness and success in all your relationships and endeavors!

Love,

Mimi
