The results of the last poll are in! It was a tie, folks wanted to see glitter and matte. The neat thing about writing this blog is that I get to have the final say, so I picked glitter. Don't worry, you'll see matte spam real soon!

I took the following pictures in many different lighting scenarios, to best capture the glitter.

Hard Candy Break Up over Sally Hansen Thinking of Blue (dark blue creme). I love how these hex glitter particles change color. There's also incredibly fine silver glitter mixed in. I would have liked it more if it wasn't there, to be honest.

Color Club Untamed Luxury. A teal that leans more green base, with glitter that is actually silvery and holographic, but looks teal because of the jelly base. Top coat hungry!

Sally Hansen Night Lights. Fine holographic glitter suspended in a sheer charcoal base. By itself, the glitter looks sort of murky in the charcoal base, but layered over a black creme (as shown here) it really pops.

Rimmel Eccentricity. Possibly my favorite glitter ever. So great, it gets two pictures. This polish was LE from a long time ago, and I only recently acquired it from eBay. I'm so glad I did! It's a mix of fine copper and small hex holographic glitter. The combination is absolutely amazing! It's truly a crime that a polish like this could be LE.

Nearly every brand has one. A red jelly base, with matching red fine glitter. This is Sally Hansen Red Carpet.

L.A. Girl Rockstar Supernova. This was my first hairy bar glitter! Holographic, in a sheer charcoal base. Again, here I've worn it over black.

Revlon Facets of Fuchsia. One of my favorite purchases from 2011. I was so glad when Revlon came out with a passable dupe for Deborah Lippman's Bad Romance. Here, I've worn one coat over black creme.

Color Club Red Velvet. Another favorite. So simple, red glitter in a black base, but somehow it never gets old for me. Vampy and elegant.

Review: CHI Keratin Mist

One of the products underneath my bathroom sink (known as the forest of hair products and where unloved skin care products go to die) that I reach for the most is my bottle of CHI Keratin Mist.

In addition to smelling great (not a whiff of alcohol or other 'chemical-y' scents), CHI Keratin Mist does a fantastic job of keeping my hair very soft and manageable. I usually use a few spritzes all over my hair when it is damp, straight out of the shower before I blow dry. It makes for a really nice leave-in conditioner, without weighing down my hair or making it feel oily or product laden. Another nice use for this product is as de-tangler. I've definitely woken up with some nasty snarls in my hair (what on earth am I doing in my sleep?) and a bit of Keratin Mist does the trick to comb them out without damaging my locks.

Last but not least, I found out while reading the CHI hair color manual that it's recommended to use Keratin Mist to restore porosity to hair (this is mumbo jumbo to most of you, I'm guessing).

A side note: be careful where you buy your CHI products. Recently Farouk Systems (makers of CHI and Biosilk) won a lawsuit against Costco for selling counterfeit CHI products. I've also heard from sales associates from CosmoProf that there are CHI products out there that can be old or watered down online and in stores, that are heavily discounted. Last week, I sniffed a bottle of Keratin Mist at Target and it smelled NOTHING like the bottle I bought from CosmoProf. It reeked of alcohol. Your best bet is to purchased from an authorized retailer of Farouk Systems products.

A 12 oz bottle typically runs around $12-14.

Don't Get Koi With Me

Ok, I'm obsessed with stamping again. This is a design from a plate called "A48". I'm not sure what brand this is, but I believe it is the same brand sold by the German Magno Nails. I bought mine from a seller on eBay for $4.50 (free shipping US!). I mostly bought this plate because of the fish design.

To start, I used a base of L'oreal In The Buff which I think might be discontinued by now. It's a very soft, sheer, shimmery off white. I then took Wet'n'Wild Fantasy Makers Creepy Pumpkin and randomly splotched the nails in different places. Then I stamped the design on top with Konad Special Black Polish.

The overall look was a sort of orange marbled mix. You know, the color of koi!

I received my XL C stamping plate last week, and I promise to tell you all about that really soon. In the meantime, take a look at one of my first manicures done with this plate!

I used both of these designs, though it is actually the same image flipped over the axis. Sorry the plate is smudged, but those of you who use nail plates can testify that it seems that no matter how well you clean it, it's impossible to get as clean as it was when it was new!

Zoya Kelly is the base, a beautiful smokey purple-y grey. I used Sally Hansen Metallic Momentum to stamp, which was a LE polish from a few years ago. I like using this one to stamp so much, I actually bought a back up just last week. I was scared I was going to run out.

Glitter Gal Sunday: Bruised Ego

This is one of my favorite Glitter Gal polishes so far. Bruised Ego, a very holo linear purple.

The white blur in the background is Kuma rolling around in the grass.

This color is a little sheer, so I needed three full coats. Look at that range of rainbow effect! Gorgeous! I love how glossy this shade is without a top coat. Such a beautiful shade to behold!
