Summer Favorites - 2014

Good Afternoon!

I didn't mean to go a week without blogging but I was just short on time last week! We were in LA last weekend for our wedding reception (which I uh, managed to miss by being really sick). If you remember, we were legally married last year, but since my family is so spread apart (most of my family lives in Shanghai and LA), my parents wanted to throw us a reception when more of us could get together. It was really nice to see my aunts and uncle who live in China, since I haven't been back there since 2008.

Today I just wanted to share some of the products that I've been really loving this summer. Is it hot where you live right now? It's been scorching here, with temperatures over 100F the past few days. Perfect pool weather.

Ouidad Wave Create Sea Spray. I crave those tousled beachy waves but my hair is fine and limp and I can't hold a curl to save my life. I've found a great way to add a bit of body and wave though, with Ouidad's Sea Spray. I spray liberally all over dry hair, massage a bit of leave in conditioner on my ends and pile my hair onto the top of my head into a sock bun. Instead of hanging stick straight, my hair actually looks like it has some life in it the next morning!

Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix. I bought the mini bottle to test it out and compare it to Urban Decay All Nighter, and I have to say that I love the MUFE Mist & Fix more. Mist & Fix keeps my foundation from being broken down by my oil t zone (ugh, that dreaded patchy foundation look) yet also manages to not dehydrate my dry areas. It does a great job with oil control too, I maybe only blot once a day, if that. I'm definitely picking up a full sized bottle when I finish this.

Sephora Collection 8 HR Mattifying Compact Foundation. I've been using this foundation in the summer for a few years now, and I like it a LOT more now that it's been reformulated (last year). It used to have bulky, fragile packaging and a weird musty smell but now it's great. This compact is sleeker and way more durable and the smell is gone. Though it's not super finely milled, the coverage offered by this powder is good and it wears well. I don't care for the sponge though, and prefer to apply it with a paddle shaped powder brush.

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Flora Nymphea. In the sweltering heat, a lot of my perfumes feel heavy and stifling, a bit too much for myself (and anyone around me). Guerlain Flora Nymphea is uplifting, light and fresh instead of cloying. You can smell the soft delicate white petals of orange blossoms as well as a dab of honey. There's also a little bit of musk and woods, and something that feels aquatic to me rather than green.

BECCA Beach Tint in Grapefruit is something I reviewed a few years ago, but still continues to be one of my favorite products ever. It's long lasting and looks matte without drying out my lips. Grapefruit is currently my favorite shade, it's natural looking but beautiful. I'm wearing it by itself in the picture above.

I hope you all are having a great week! I'm working on catching up on content.

What are some of your favorite products for summer?
