Don't Get Koi With Me

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Ok, I'm obsessed with stamping again.  This is a design from a plate called "A48". I'm not sure what brand this is, but I believe it is the same brand sold by the German Magno Nails. I bought mine from a seller on eBay for $4.50 (free shipping US!). I mostly bought this plate because of the fish design.

To start, I used a base of L'oreal In The Buff which I think might be discontinued by now. It's a very soft, sheer, shimmery off white. I then took Wet'n'Wild Fantasy Makers Creepy Pumpkin and randomly splotched the nails in different places. Then I stamped the design on top with Konad Special Black Polish.

The overall look was a sort of orange marbled mix. You know, the color of koi!

Have a great night, thanks for checking out this manicure!

Stamped: Sally Hansen Metallic Momentum over Zoya Kelly

Monday, April 9, 2012
I received my XL C stamping plate last week, and I promise to tell you all about that really soon. In the meantime, take a look at one of my first manicures done with this plate!

I used both of these designs, though it is actually the same image flipped over the axis. Sorry the plate is smudged, but those of you who use nail plates can testify that it seems that no matter how well you clean it, it's impossible to get as clean as it was when it was new!

Zoya Kelly is the base, a beautiful smokey purple-y grey. I used Sally Hansen Metallic Momentum to stamp, which was a LE polish from a few years ago. I like using this one to stamp so much, I actually bought a back up just last week. I was scared I was going to run out.

Have a great night, folks!

Glitter Gal Sunday: Bruised Ego

Sunday, April 8, 2012

This is one of my favorite Glitter Gal polishes so far. Bruised Ego, a very holo linear purple.

The white blur in the background is Kuma rolling around in the grass.

This color is a little sheer, so I needed three full coats. Look at that range of rainbow effect! Gorgeous! I love how glossy this shade is without a top coat. Such a beautiful shade to behold!

Have a great week!

Quick FOTD: I Love Tangerine Tango

Last week, during Sephora's Beauty Insider sale I was highly tempted to buy the Sephora + Pantone lipstick in Tangerine Tango. I'm not going to lie, red orange is one of my favorite colors ever and I really love it on the lips.
However, I decided against buying because I'm trying pretty hard to stick to my budget and that means nothing but the essentials (though a small voice in the back of my head argues that beautiful lipstick is an absolute essential for every woman). So I decided to wear Le Metier de Beaute Magic Luster Cream mixed with Rock & Republic All Nighter blush instead. It's pretty close in color, with some added golden shimmer.

If I look like I'm about to go to the gym... well. Yeah, that's totally where I'm headed!

Face: MUFE HD Foundation, MUFE Full Cover Concealer, Rock & Republic Pressed Powder in Chiffon, MAC Marine Life High Light Powder
Lips: Le Metier de Beaute Magic Luster Cream, Rock & Republic All Nighter blush
Brows: NARS Bali shadow
Eyes: LORAC Behind The Scenes Eye Primer, Milani Almondine, MAC Copperplate, NYX White, Rock & Republic Fatalistic, La Femme Eye Liner Sealer, Revlon PhotoReady mascara

I'll have the weekly Glitter Gal polish post up in a few hours!

EOTD: MUFE #92

Saturday, April 7, 2012

I used one of my most beautiful shadows for this EOTD. Make Up Forever's #92, which is a intense purple matte.

It's one of the most glorious colors I own, but it has a serious drawback! This color stains like you would not believe. Much like a house guest who spills wine on your carpet, this shadow leaves a red-burgundy stain on my eye lids that lasts and lasts. Seriously. I wore this look yesterday, removed my makeup with oil cleanser like I normally do... and today it looks like I have dreaded pink eye. Disgusting!

I based this look sort-of on this tutorial from Makeup Your Jangsara. Only I used different colors... and by the time I was finished it didn't really resemble it!
I used:
Brows: NARS Bali shadow
Eyes: NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk, MUFE #92, Rock & Republic Fade, Rock & Republic Fatalistic, NYX White shadow, ES Brand lashes in A880*
