Dollish Polish 2012 Halloween (Comeback Shades)

Saturday, October 12, 2013
Hello!
So recently I was digging through a friend's unwanted purge box when I spied these beauties from Dollish Polish. These are two shades from last year's Halloween Collection. I fell in love with them instantly! I'm showing you them today because for a limited time, Dollish Polish is bringing them back.

Vampires Coven. Two coats. A black pigmented shade with red and burgundy glitter.

Somethings Up With Jack. A clear topper with purple, black and white glitter. I used one coat over American Apparel L'Espirit.

Both shades really put me in the Halloween mood. I have the old bottles, the new Dollish Polishes are square. There's also a new beautiful Halloween collection for '13 that you should check out, they are fantastic. Dollish Polish can be purchased here.

NYX Wonder Pencil Review

Friday, October 11, 2013

Good afternoon!

I was given a NYX Wonder Pencil over the summer when I stopped by the NYX booth at CosmoProf North America. I like it so much that I ended up buying another one so I have swatches of both to show you today.

NYX Wonder Pencils are flesh toned pencils that have a myriad of uses; concealer, eye brightener, reverse lip liner all in one. They come in three shades (01,02,03 that are respectively Light, Medium and Dark) and the hardwood pencil sharpens really easily. I have shades 01 and 03.

I don't really like using this as a concealer because I don't find the texture to be creamy enough to blend, I think it's not very flattering for blemishes. However it makes a fantastic defining pencil for under the brow arches. These Wonder Pencils are also great at brightening the waterline and as reverse lip liner. I don't have many lip liners because I've been using the MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in NC15/NW20 for years to define lips and these Wonder Pencils are definitely a cheaper option.

Color wise, 01 is lighter than MAC Chromagraphic NC15/NW20 while 03 is darker. Stila Topaz is much creamier and peachier than both the MAC and the NYX. Formula wise I think the MAC and NYX are comparable, it's hard for me to decide which is actually the creamier of the two since my MAC is getting kinda old.

My one criticism is is that there needs to be more and darker shades. 03 Deep matches my outer arms when I'm at my tannest (probably a smidge darker than NC25) so there could definitely be more shades to be more friendly to a wider range of skin tones.

Price wise, these are a complete steal. They are normally $4.49 but NYX is 40% off at Ulta quite often so you can pick them up for $2 and change.

Oopsie Daisies Sanderson Sisters Trio

Thursday, October 10, 2013

Good evening friends!

Tonight I have the Oopsie Daisies Sanderson Sisters trio to show you. Inspired by the movie Hocus Pocus (the rock I lived under didn't have this movie, I'm missing out!), each polish based off of each sister's costume.

For Thy Sisters. A blood red squishy red jelly with silver holo, silver and red glitters. Two coats.

I'll Take Thee Away. This is a stunning fuchsia jelly packed with lavender, pink, fuchsia and big pink holo dots.  I wore two coats with a bit of dabbing for the circle placement.

Witchcraft. A black jelly with teal, green, silver and blue glitter with big teal holo dots. Two coats again, with big glitter placement.

The two shades with the big glitter come with extra circle glitter that you can add directly into the polish or keep around for placement because despite using a high quality uncut base, circle glitters are heavy and tend to sink a bit. In my experience the sinking wasn't really bad at all, nothing that tipping the bottle over for a few minutes before application couldn't fix. They don't completely lay at the bottom of the bottle, they just hang down lower in the bottle, if that makes any sense. The formulas were a bit thicker (which makes complete sense. If they were thin those lovely big dots would just sink completely) but not unusable by any means.

I thought that all three of these shades were exceptionally beautiful, I always love a good jelly! Each shade really uses great colors and there was a lot of depth.

Each of these shades are $8.50 and can be purchased here at the Oopsie Daisies Etsy store. For the latest news and swatches, be sure to follow the Oopsie Daisies Facebook page.

Laquerlicious Skeletons in Your Closet

Wednesday, October 9, 2013
Hi folks. Today I have possibly the most nontraditional Halloween polish I've seen this season. There's no orange, purple and only black but somehow it's perfect for Halloween and anytime wear, really.

This is Laquerlicious Skeletons in Your Closet. It's a clear topper with matte black, yellow, bright light green, white starrs, lavender and small iridescent glitter. It's a kooky but beautiful combination.

I'm wearing it here over a gradient of medium bright kelly green to dark green using Le Chat Dare to Wear Lily Pad and American Apparel Hunter. It was only one coat of Skeletons in Your Closet, not much fishing but I did drag around the brush a bit for the perfect glitter placement because some of the pieces are on the bigger side.

Sigh. It's so gorgeous.

This Laquerlicious polish is LE, as is the rest of the Halloween set. Once they are gone, they're gone! You can find this and other gorgeous glitter creations at the Laquerlicious Etsy store. International friends, you can pick up yours from BeautySoFly.

By the way, sorry I'm behind on comments. Kinda in a funk lately where I want to blog but editing pictures is really wearing me down! For most of the manicures or swatches you see here, it takes me about 5-10 minutes to do. Each picture on the other hand is another 10+ minutes, whew.
