Mask Madness, Vol. VIII: Manyo Factory Overnight Miracle Sleeping Pack

Saturday, September 2, 2017

I've been using the same Manyo Factory Overnight Miracle Sleeping Pack for the last four months and that is more than adequate enough time to come up with a review. What was an initially "Meh" product has become a staple in my nightly routine.

I had a foil sample of this sleeping pack which was enough to patch test for a few days. It passed, no irritation in sight.  I couldn't really tell from sampling if this night time mask did much for me, but I was curious enough to order a full tube from MelodyCosme, and I'm very glad I did.

It smells to me like oatmeal with something faintly citrus. The scent isn't bad but it's completely different from anything else I have in my arsenal. The texture is that of a lightweight watery gel, it sinks into my skin to a matte looking finish. Lighter than aloe gel or propolis, but leaves a similar slight tacky finish on the skin.

In the morning, my face feels really smooth and bright. It's a different kind of good, compared to my other devoted nighttime product, Missha Purple ampoule (which is more firm/plump/plush effect). Strangely enough when I use them together, I wake up with skin that has none of the benefits of the two products separately. I've never had much luck with vitamin C products in the past for lightening spots, but Overnight Miracle Sleeping Pack is doing a great job at brightening my face overall and slowly working on a few dark patches I have on my cheeks.

Ingredients, as per the MF website:
Hippophae Rhamnoides Water, Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Water, Niacinamide, Betaine, Sclerotium Gum, Xanthan Gum, Glycerin, Isoamyl Laurate, Cetearyl olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Arachidyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Arachidyl glucoside, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, RosaCanina Fruit Oil, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil, Royal Jelly Extract, Phaseolus Radiatus Seed Extract, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract, Physalis Alkekengi Fruit Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Honey, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla KoreanaExtract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Honey Extract, Propolis Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, p-Anisic Acid, Lactic acid.
Some of the ingredients really jumped out at me, the pink indicates what I personally find effective for my skin.

The only downside of this product is that it doesn't seem to work really well with other products. It's puzzling. When I attempt to layer this with other ampoules, serums, essences, and the like, it's like taking two steps backwards in any skin progress.  I like it best as an all in one product when I'm really, really tired at night and don't want to fuss with a routine. This happens 5/7 nights of the week, full disclosure. I'll use a cleansing oil and maybe secondary cleanser to break down my makeup, blot my face and apply a generous blob all over my face and neck. By the time I reach my bed, it's completely absorbed and I can hit my pillow knowing it won't transfer to my bedding.

Oh! One thing to note, definitely keep this out of the sun. The color of this is initially off white, but exposure to sunlight will turn it brown/orange. I accidentally left my travel tube of Overnight Miracle Sleeping Pack out, the clear walls did nothing to protect the contents.

It comes in 100ml and 65ml tubes. I recently repurchased the 100ml tube of this. In the US, there's very few stockists (maybe just the one?). I tried to order overseas from TesterKorea (total failure of an order, they let me know 18 days after I ordered that my items were out of stock) without much luck, so I'm sticking with MelodyCosme. It's currently marked down to $15 (regularly $30) because the stock is reaching the open-by date in November. Since I'm almost done with my current tube, I have no qualms about this as I know I'll be opening a new one shortly. Just a sizable discount in my eyes. Edit: since typing this, the remaining stock sold out at MelodyCosme.
