Finally! I couldn't wait any longer to show you these swatches of the new Shiro Cosmetics collection, The Tributes. I couldn't take them outdoors like I had planned, but I hope you enjoy them nonetheless.

Unlike my previous orders it took a bit longer for my package to arrive this time, even though I only ordered this sample set. I placed my order on the 26th of February and it came in the mail on the 15th of March (which is 14 business days). And unlike previous orders, I didn't get an email or Paypal update with a tracking number though I see from the package that there was indeed delivery confirmation used. I guess turn around time is one of the things one must consider when wanting products from indie brands. However, it did come with candy (not that I can eat it, but I can look at it and salivate quite nicely). NARS doesn't give me candy, that's for sure.

There are 12 shades total, take a look! Each shade is swatched twice, the left being over dry, bare skin and the right side applied over a wet base such as Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy or MAC Gel Mixing Medium.

Unforgettable- a russet red with bright sparks
Girl on Fire- a brilliant orange base with glimmering gold
Cornucopia- a fine intense yellow shimmer
Remake- a gilded gold, almost chrome in intensity

Star-Crossed- a rich bark brown with golden shimmer
Beyond the Fence- a mossy green shimmer that melts into woody gold
Huntress- bright silver chrome
Rebellion- the blackest blue shimmer

Ever In Your Favor- a cheery fuchsia pink shimmer
Wildflowers- a dainty faded pink shimmer
Baker's Boy- soft tan with various colored shimmer
Mockingjay- a soft bronze-gold

I did notice that there is a fair number of shades in this collection that are fairly warm. Despite this, I can honestly say that I love each and every color from this collection. I love how well these shadows translate from the book, the colors are exactly what I wanted to see in a Hunger Games themed set. Not only is each individual color very intense, but as a collection the shades are very cohesive.

Here I used Cornucopia on the lid, with Beyond The Fence in the Crease.

I'm not going to lie, I started out buying makeup from Shiro because of the novelty of having Pokemon themed products but I'm extremely pleased that the cosmetics stand out in their own right. It's fantastic to see a company have one after another well rounded, beautiful collections.

Glitter Gal Sunday: 10 to Midnight

Happy Sunday!
The sun wasn't cooperating today (I fear that it seldom considers the wishes of one puny makeup blogger) so I pulled some photos that I had as backup for today's Glitter Gal. This is 10 to Midnight, a very frosty gunmetal holo.

I think you'll agree with me that the frost is much easier to see in this polish, especially if you look at the tips where the holo effect isn't the most prominent.
Fantastic formula, really. This is two coats without topcoat, as I find that greatly diminishes the holo effect.

How do you feel about frost holos? I feel like that they don't occur all that often among holo polishes. To me, they're certainly ... interesting, but since frost is far from my favorite finish (both in polish and makeup) I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

Do I look like a cheery host that would interview you right before you fight to the death? I hope so!

I wanted to do something a bit more intense with Caesar's look. I mean, yesterday's Effie look was fun and all, but the pictures looked just like I smeared pink all over my lids and called it a day. I'm much more pleased with this look.

What's funny is that Tracy from Beauty Reflections just wrote this post about futuristic makeup, featuring bold colored brows. I was all 'Eh, I'd never be into that!' I was mistaken because I never knew how cool it could end up looking!

Granted, I'm not nearly brave enough to go out like this but I wish I had the option. It would be nice if dramatic makeup looks were accepted.

It's odd. It's kinda creepy. I like it.

May the odds ever be in your favor.

I received the sample set of The Tributes collection that I ordered from Shiro Cosmetics (review later, I promise. I need the sun to do these shadows justice.) and I immediately had to play with the colors.
This look is odd I know, I don't intend to leave the house. I still -had- to do it though, I knew as soon as I saw the trailer for the Hunger Games.

If I had blue eyes (or the inclination to find blue contacts) like Elizabeth Banks, the over all look would have been much creepier.

Also, it's times like these that I wish I had a full wardrobe of colorful wigs.

Green EOTD (Happy Pi Day!)

It's not St. Patrick's Day yet, but I don't need a holiday as an excuse to wear green eye shadow.

Also, Happy Pi Day! Man, I'm a dork.

These are the first EOTD pics taken with this new camera that I ahem, borrowed from my boyfriend. It's the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-WX9 I got him for Christmas. I'm not happy with it. I've spent a lot of time messing with the settings and I don't find it user friendly at all. I bet it'd be great for the average person who gets it out and uses the auto mode to shoot things outdoors (like Morgan taking pictures of marmots while on a hike), but it is dreadful at taking macro shots (doesn't even have a manual macro mode, the so called 'intelligent" auto that decides whether you're lucky enough to shoot macro or not).
I'll have to play with it some more, but it looks like this camera is safe from me as I definitely will make no attempt to keep it (yes, I'm a horrible enough girlfriend that I got him something that I wanted to play around with as a gift).
