Best of 2014: A Year in Review

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

2014 is wrapping up, and what a year it has been. It started out pretty horrible for me but turned around and became the happiest, most fulfilling year of my life! Funny how personal growth can come from awful things, no? As this year draws to a conclusion, it also marks five years of blogging for me, which I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around.

Some pretty cool stuff happened this year.
One of my manicures was in Nail It Mag! This is the July/August edition.

My taste in beauty has really shifted this past year. Nails have really dropped on the priority list (believe it or not, I only bought one polish in the last six months!) while I renewed my interested in makeup, particularly luxury brands. This year I tried a lot of new brands including Kevyn Aucoin, Rouge Bunny Rouge and Addiction.

I tried over three dozen perfumes. I started using a prime lens to take pictures.

Some of my favorite things in the last year include:

The TATCHA Ritual gave me the smoothest, most healthy feeling skin I've yet to feel. Anastasia Beverly Hills knocked it out of the part with Beauty Genius, a remarkable waterproofing gel and my trusty Powder Duo in Granite for great looking brows (most) every day. Woody perfumes rocked my world with Diptyque Tam Dao available now in EdP formulation and Tom Ford Oud Wood made my fall a sensual delight. Even though YSL reformulated, I fell in love with Pure Chromatics #8 while it was on its way out. BECCA Beach Tints continue to be a staple, especially the shade Grapefruit. This year, I found a new favorite foundation in Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation. I was surprised to find that despite my feelings for the brand, Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks were totally up my alley. Oh- and I managed to figure out a way to disguise my hairloss with Toppik. It was a great year for beauty.

I also watched Guardians of the Galaxy four times in theaters. That was time well spent, folks.

Hope you all have a fantastic new year! Wishing you health, happiness and success in all your endeavors,

Mimi
